SeaGolf Mallorca: The Minigolf Created by David Theming Works
When it opened in Magaluf, SeaGolf Mallorca quickly became one of the most striking leisure spaces on the island. At first glance it looked like just another indoor minigolf, but once visitors crossed the entrance, they discovered something entirely different: a visual universe built under black light, a course filled with fluorescent color, glowing silhouettes, and scenes that invited players to move between fantasy and adventure.
This surprising effect was no coincidence. It was the result of the creative and technical work of David Theming Works, a Spanish company specialized in theming and the design of leisure and tourism experiences.
A Black-Light Minigolf in Mallorca: The Initial Vision
The idea behind SeaGolf was clear from the start: create an indoor minigolf that could operate year-round and offer something different from the usual attractions on the island. The goal was to attract both tourists and families or groups of friends with a fun, visually engaging experience—something closer to a small indoor theme park than to a simple minigolf course.
To achieve this, the project required creativity, immersion, and a design capable of transforming an enclosed space into a surprising journey. This was exactly the role assumed by David Theming Works.
The Role of David Theming Works: Turning a Sport into a Sensory Black-Light Adventure
Conceptual Design: Telling a Story Through Space
David Theming Works’ philosophy centers on transforming traditional activities into immersive experiences. For SeaGolf, their goal was to take minigolf to a new level by creating two differentiated and thematically coherent circuits:
• A Cartoon circuit, with a fun, colorful aesthetic, designed for families with children and a more casual audience.
• An Adventure circuit, deeper, visually intense, and full of fantastic and challenging elements.

From the very first sketch, the idea was for each hole to work as a scene within a visual story, where players not only “play” but also “travel” through a thematic journey.
Black-Light Illumination: The Aesthetic Soul of the Project
One of the most distinctive aspects of SeaGolf’s design is the use of black light. To ensure that colors, decorations, and obstacles glowed under this type of lighting, David Theming Works created:
• Fluorescent murals and decorations
• Reactive 3D figures and elements
• Visual lines guiding players through the course
• Scenography that comes alive under ultraviolet light

The result is a unique atmosphere: a place where perception changes, contrasts intensify, and every turn of the course becomes a photo opportunity.
Technical Design and Playability: Aesthetic and Functionality Combined
Although SeaGolf stands out for its aesthetics, these never took priority over playability. David Theming Works worked with 3D modeling, simulations, and design tests to ensure:
• Each hole had a balanced level of difficulty
• The courses were smooth and safe
• Obstacles were not only visually appealing but also functional
• Materials were adapted to the heavy use of an indoor attraction
• The experience was suitable for both children and adults

The balance between artistic design and technical design is one of the studio’s hallmarks.
Transforming a Venue into a Themed Space: Challenges and Solutions
As a fully indoor minigolf, the project required converting a commercial space into a themed environment. This involved:
• Adapting ceiling height and available space to the needs of the game
• Integrating black-light illumination with safe, long-lasting electrical systems
• Designing scenes that fit the course without hindering player flow
• Creating rest and transition areas consistent with the theme
• Incorporating materials resistant to touch and to the visual wear caused by ultraviolet light

The goal was for SeaGolf to function as a self-contained space: fun, attractive, and comfortable for visitors.
Two Worlds in One Park: Cartoon and Adventure
One of the most important creative decisions was dividing the park into two completely different universes.
Cartoon Circuit
• Bright colors
• Friendly, cartoonish figures
• Soft, accessible obstacles
• A design meant for children and families

• A design meant for children and families
The atmosphere is cheerful, dynamic, and full of rounded shapes and recognizable elements—ideal for first-time minigolf players.
Adventure Circuit
• More intense and immersive scenography
• More complex visual effects under black light
• More elaborate and challenging obstacles
• A fantastic adventure theme

Here is where David Theming Works deployed the most creative resources, generating a sense of dynamism, mystery, and exploration.
SeaGolf as an Experience: More Than a Game, a Small Indoor Theme Park
Thanks to the design by David Theming Works, SeaGolf became a versatile leisure space:
• A perfect plan for rainy or very hot days
• An entertainment spot for tourists seeking alternatives to the beach
• An ideal environment for birthdays, groups, and events
• A place where photos naturally become part of the experience

The fluorescent atmosphere surprises children, engages adults, and creates a game environment that is accessible yet exciting.
Conclusion: SeaGolf Mallorca, an Example of How Themed Design Can Transform Indoor Leisure
What makes SeaGolf unique is David Theming Works’ ability to combine:
• Artistic creativity
• Lighting technology
• Technical design
• Carefully balanced playability
• A coherent visual narrative
